Throughout his life, Nicolas de Staël maintained abundant epistolary relations with his closest friends, thus offering us, in a way, his autobiography.

This show designed around a selection of letters offers you an intimate immersion into the painter's life to discover his relationship with the world., to art and its painting. From his native Russia to his final gesture in Antibes, he confides his thoughts to us, his doubts, ses passions. His musically accompanied words echo his Slavic identity and his love of light. This is how he creates atmospheres evoking his workshop and his travels.. An invitation to enter the intimacy of an artist who sought to express his vision of the world with strength and sensitivity.
