“THE NATIONAL ROAD 7, MINERS’ ROUTE” – THE 21 ET 22 SEPTEMBER 2024 – FROM 10 A.M. TO 6 P.M.
The Gueules Rouges museum invites you to discover, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, and to celebrate the bicentenary of the National Road 7, an unexpected N7, that of those who use it on a daily basis, not for vacation, but for work.
In effect, in Green Provence, this road, as well as many secondary axes, have adapted to the movements linked to the exploitation of bauxite by miners. From Mazaugues to the west, to Carcès in the east, the daily life of towns and villages was punctuated by the comings and goings of ore transport trucks, transportation of miners' buses to mining sites, not to mention the railway lines and overhead cable systems spanning the hills.

Aluminum and National 7
The generalization of holidays on the French Riviera is a marker of the evolution of household consumption, and the National 7 is a witness to this evolution. Among these new features, lots of aluminum elements.

The miners' café
Throughout the weekend, the Gueules Rouges du Var association offers you a restaurant in the atmosphere of yesteryear, in contact with former miners. Meal, cold drinks, hot drinks and small snacks.
The National 7, they were also local producers, artisans, winegrowers… all along the road. In partnership with the Tourism department of the Provence Verte Agglomeration
Release of the new vintage from the Gueules Rouges du Var association
Minors, outside of their working day, often had a patch of vines at home which they tended, and from which they produced wine. United as cooperators, they participated in making Var one of the French departments with the most cooperative cellars.
The Gueules Rouges du Var association will present its new vintage, bottled by Estandon, historic winegrower of the Provence Verte territory since 1947, having encountered the epic of the Gueules Rouges du Var.
Demonstration of old-fashioned bread making
Bakers, millers since 6 generations, brought together under the responsible label “Lou Pan d’Ici, the only sector 100% south of our region” will present to the public their authentic know-how in an old-fashioned Ephrem wood-fired oven. Tasting, sale of products, and old-fashioned bread making workshops for children and families.
Provence Verte producers and the preservation of the terroir
The Provence Verte Campus of Saint Maximin, trainer of our producers of tomorrow, will invite you to discover its agricultural sectors and in particular the strong productions of our territory : chickpea and plum.
Through his teachers, of his students, and a series of producers present for the occasion, tasting and sale of local products.
The crafts of Provence Verte
The Tourism service of the Provence Verte Agglomeration, in partnership with the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, invites you to discover several examples among the many talents, Art craftsmen, of our territory. Workshops for everyone, adults and children. Participants will leave with the object they have created..
Presence of craftsmen in the afternoons only, Saturday and Sunday.
Solange Battarra shapes paper and cardboard pulp to create art and decorative objects such as wall art, mirrors, soliflores, etc..
Etienne Charles, art cabinetmaker, mainly creates original creations of very contemporary designer furniture using traditional cabinetmaking techniques.
Sandrine Edmond, framer, uses aluminum or raw wood that she tints to highlight works, paintings or photos.
Where does the National come from? 7 ?
How was the route of this legendary road decided? ? Very often, other roads or old routes are present to explain how our territories evolved to become what we know today.
The Tourvaine Popular History Association, fervent defender of local heritage, offers you a dive into the past to discover the origin of the N7 in the Var... on the route of the Voie Aurélienne.
Exhibition and sale of works on the heritage of Provence Verte.
At the “Miners’ Café”, giant barbecue at lunchtime, small snack throughout the day.

- You are May 1st 30 September : Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.. School holidays all zones : Wednesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m..
- From October 1 to 30 April : Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.. School holidays all zones : Wednesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m..
The museum is closed from 15 December to February 1.
