The Provence Verte Agglomeration and the Châteauvert contemporary art center are pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the work Shell Shelter by Amandine Guruceaga, Last work acquired for the sculpture garden Thursday 3 April at 6 p.m..

In “Shell Shelter” the protective form functions as both a sheltering entity and a permeable membrane, echoing the artist’s exploration of textiles and dyes within a sculptural vocabulary. La structure en aluminium, meticulously engraved and covered with translucent paints, captures the ethereal qualities of the fabric, while serving as a windbreak and privacy screen, a shield against the elements. Yet, through its interstitial spaces, light and vision are negotiated, allowing interaction with the environment that is both intimate and open.

Amandine Guruceaga born in 1989 and established in Marseille, works like a modern alchemist, transforming ordinary materials into tangible manifestations of the fragility of our world and the echo of history in matter. His artistic approach, deeply rooted in the experiences she had in her parents’ enamelling workshop, is characterized by a relentless exploration of materials through dyeing, discoloration, and engraving, thus redefining the boundaries between painting and sculpture. For Guruceaga, the surface becomes a space for dialogue, where technical innovation reveals material reactions and cultural imprints.

His works, conveying bright, bold colors, reflect a changing society, blurring the lines between genres, cultures and identities. Burnt and engraved metal, evoking skins, historical scars and stigmata, testifies to his quest for the potential of materials. Through this exploration, Guruceaga invites us to reflect on our relationship with the world, highlighting the precariousness of our environment and the urgency of taking care of our Earth. His work invites us to a deep sensory experience, revealing the beauty and complexity of surfaces as interfaces between the visible and the invisible, the organic and the inorganic
